Frequently Asked Questions
How many children will attend the camp? The ratio of students to adults is steadily growing, but estimation is 80 kids and 30 active supervisors. (Not including improv "NPC's").
How many adults will stay the night with the students? At least 20 leaders will stay overnight, which is 5 per house!
Will all of the staff and volunteers undergo criminal record checks? All adults will have a criminal record check to ensure the safety of students and volunteers.
Will there be a first aid attendant on site? There will be at least 10 volunteers with certified first aid!
Is pick up and drop off at Shawnigan Lake School? Yes! When you register you will get an email about where exactly pickup/drop off is, and what your kids should bring.
Where do the kids sleep? The kids will be sleeping in the dorms provided by Shawnigan Lake School! They will be separated into houses (20 kids per house), and 4 kids per room.
Is there options for kids with food restrictions?
There are vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options provided by the Alectoria Team, as most of us are one or more of those things!
Will my kid be bunked with kids the same age?
All kids ages 11-13 will be bunked with kids the same age, and 14-17 the same.
Is it a closed campus?
Yes, it is. The campus is very large, and there's lots of room for exploring within the set boundaries!
Is technology allowed? (Eg. cell phones, tablets, ipods, computers)
In an attempt to make the camp immersive, we ask for you to leave devices at home.
Because technology is not allowed, is there a way for me to contact my children and/or you?
Yes, information (such as phone numbers for staff) will be provided closer to the camp dates.
What is the cancellation policy?
Tickets are 100% refundable up until May 1st. After that, tickets are non-refundable, but can be transferred to another youth. In the unlikely event that the camp is cancelled you will be completely refunded.
Where can I find more information about parking and camp policies?
When you register, you will be given a detailed email filled with information such drop off/pick up, where and when, what to bring, and some general info of the camp.
